Om Shanti Om, one of the finest movies made in Bollywood. The movie consists of colourful dance sequences with quite essential Bollywood drama, which is necessary in every Bollywood movie. Shah Rukh Khan played the remarkable role of "Om" in the movie. Alongside SRK, the newly emerged Deepika Padukone also justified the role of "Shanti". Om Shanti Om also has a lot of references from the cinema era of the 80's. The charm of SRK is unmatchable and this movie was a commercial success when released. The screenplay, dialogues, songs, dance done by the actors made the movie family friendly and evergreen to watch. It also established Shah Rukh Khan as the "King of Bollywood". Here are the reasons why I love the movie :
1. King of Romance- Shah Rukh Khan
Without a doubt, SRK and romance go hand in hand. I am a big fan of Shah Rukh Khan and I have watched all of his movies too, from DDLJ to ZERO, and I fairly know that no one can match the vibe of romantic dialogues as SRK does. Watching Om Shanti Om was a no-regret decision made by me because, why not to see? It's Shah Rukh Khan in it.
2. It made us feel that dreams do come true
Itni shiddat se maine tumhe paane ki koshish ki hai …
ki har zarre ne mujhe tumse milane ki saazish ki hai
If you have seen the movie, you will know the plot. Especially a plot where Om gives his award-winning speech in front of some kids with an empty bottle in his hand as an award. In his after life, he becomes an actor and wins his first award, and the same speech repeats, but with a dream come true moment.
Indeed, the movie gave us a message to dream as well as that dreams do come true, you just have to have patience and trust the universe, as the dialogue goes.
Agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaaho to puri kayanat usey
tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai.
and we all believed it as an audience.
3. Happy endings
Hamari filmo ki tarah, hamari zindagi mein bhi
end tak sab kuch thik hi ho jaata hai
The film settles with a heart-tugging climax and the villain also gets what he deserves. Om Shanti Om movie had one of the best dialogues and the timings. Just like any other typical Bollywood film where the hero gets heroin and kills the villain, the ending here is quite mysterious but yet another heartwarming scene for an end.
4. The songs in the movie
Tareef yeh bhi toh, Sach hai kuch bhi nahi
The movie was versatile indeed, with a Bollywood touch but the songs that the movie consisted of were awesome. In particular, "Aankhon Mein Teri" made me fall in love with the movie and it was sung by none other than KK, who is one of my favourite singers. The sad thing is that he died recently, but the songs sung by him are legendary as they were sung by the legend himself. Not just one song, the whole song album from the movie was great and entertaining.
5. The importance of Love
The love story between Om and Shanti was incomplete in their first lives, which was a sad thing, but in their second life, just Om was born, not Shanti. There was a girl who looked like Shanti, but she wasn't the original Shanti. In the end, we saw Shanti smiling at Om after the villain was dead, but the love chemistry between Om and Shanti in the first life was very romantic. Like love can happen anytime and with anyone, and if it's true, the people collide with each other in the same or after life and stay together if they are meant to be.
Over all, I liked the movie. It wasn't that great, but not even bad. If you don't like movies which make you think as well as over-stimulated Bollywood movies, then Om Shanti Om is made for you if you haven't watched it yet. There is not much drama, good acting and songs, and a decent story line.
